Sales Engineer - battery storage and EV chargers

APPLY NOW

We've been selling solar PV systems to trade customers for many years - but it's a field that changes rapidly, and increasingly we are supplying systems that are coupled with home battery storage systems or electric vehicle chargers to make better use of the energy generated by solar panels. We're looking to expand sales in these areas, so we're looking for a dedicated sales engineer to assist with sales and technical support.

Who we are

Off grid battery storageWe specialise in solar PV systems. The bulk of our turnover is in distributing complete solar PV kits, including solar panels, inverters, mounting systems and electrical components, to a network of installation customers. We also sell smaller PV systems for off-grid applications direct to retail customers, and we have developed our own software product for designing PV systems, available online at easy-pv.co.uk. We have particular expertise in battery storage systems for solar PV, and these account for an increasing proportion of our sales.

We’ve grown significantly from humble beginnings. Our first storeroom was the front room of a narrowboat, and we’ve outgrown fourfive warehouses since. We're currently based in premises on the outskirts of Cambridge with 8000 sq ft of storage space and offices for our current staff of 16.

We're passionate about the environment, and we've gained a reputation for a helpful and open approach to business. The office is a friendly, dynamic and informal place to work.

What the job involves

You will be taking on responsibility for sales and marketing of battery storage and EV charging. You'll spend a lot of your time dealing directly with customers in person, on the phone and by email, so we expect you to have a relaxed, friendly, and helpful spoken and written manner. You will need to be a great communicator, able to explain technical details of the products we sell clearly and concisely.

We pride ourselves on giving great technical support to customers, so you need to be good at assimilating technical information quickly and comprehensively. A good grounding in basic electrical concepts is important; a sharp mind and ability to learn quickly are even more important.

We're a small company, so you'll have to be willing to muck in with other aspects of the business. You're likely to spend some time processing and packing orders in the warehouse, so you will be someone who likes to be hands on and to get away from a computer screen from time to time. Familiarity with basic hand and power tools would be an advantage. We'd be particularly interested in applicants who have some electronics experience or are familiar with programming, or who have experience of Solar PV systems.

This position will suit someone who wants a career that will make a difference. Disappearing into a large organisation or doing the same thing every day doesn't appeal - and you'd like to put your skills to use to make the planet greener as well as earn your keep. You’re ambitious, and prepared to get stuck in to make a company you believe in grow.

What it offers

You'll be joining a small team, and the work you do will immediately make a difference. You will be sharing a dynamic, busy office. There’s a friendly and informal atmosphere, and a real buzz when things get busy.

The salary is £24 - £30K depending on experience. We offer 25 days paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. We work standard office hours Monday to Friday, and you'll be based at our offices on the outskirts of Cambridge.

Please complete the application form via the link below before the 31st July. If you have any questions before applying, please email us at jobs@midsummerenergy.co.uk
