G10 Relay
G10 Relay Panels are mandatory for Small-Scale Solar Generation installations above or equal to 50kW in Ireland .The G10 relay is programmed with specific parameters (voltage, frequency, etc.) that are dictated by the local electricity authority (ESB). If any of these parameters fall outside the safe limits, the relay automatically disconnects the solar system from the grid. Thus the G10 relay acts as a chaperone, monitoring and preventing potentially dangerous situations. One example is "islanding", this is when a solar system continues to feed power into a section of the grid that has been disconnected for maintenance or repair, posing a serious and potentially fatal risk to utility workers.
