SEAI Solar PV Grant
As of July 2018 the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) have introduced a Solar PV Grant for residential properties. This grant will help to fund the purchase and installation of a solar PV system and/or battery energy storage system. The scheme is expected to operate for 2 years with regular reviews expected every 6 months.
The grant support levels are as follows:
Solar PV Systems €700/kWp up to 2 kilowatts (meaning €1400)
Battery Storage €1,000, which 'unlocks' a further €700/kWp up to 4 kilowatts
An installation of 4kW of panels with a battery would receive the maximum level of support from the grant, see the following breakdown for an idea of how this would look:
€1400 for the first 2 kilowatts of panels (roughly 7 panels), in addition to €1000 for the battery which in turn unlocks further support for another 2 kilowatts at €1400. The total grant for a 4 kilowatt (14 panels) and a battery amounts to €3800.
This would cover almost 80% of the cost (including VAT) of a full 4kW kit with a hybrid inverter and battery as well as all of the rail, bolts, cables, and isolators and everything else you need from us. You can quickly and easily make a kit on our Kit Builder or with Easy-PV, with trade prices available as soon as you make an account.
Homeowners are required to complete a Building Energy Rating (BER) on their home after the supported works have been completed. Grants may only be claimed after the measures are fully completed and the contractor has been paid by or has entered into a financing agreement with the homeowner.
Support is available to all homeowners of dwellings built and occupied before 2011. Applicants are required to complete:
ESB Networks NC6 form for the application for a connection to the electricity distribution system for a microgenerator.

Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes
The TAMS grants are made available in 3 month runs and are expected to run until 2020. Grant aid is 60% for young trained farmers or 40% in all other cases up to a maximum of €80,000 spend for individuals or €160,000 for partnerships. Minimum spend is €2,000 (all figures exclude VAT). These larger figures cover the wider range of all works covered by TAMS and do not reflect the cost of a system.Eligible investments include:
According to the Department of Agriculture, an appropriately sized solar PV system for a dairy farm is approx. 5.5kWp combined with a 4.5kWh of battery storage capacity. Grant aid in this initial pilot phase will be to fund a 6kWp solar system.
Solar PV Installation on Farms – Grant aid in this initial pilot phase amounts to up to €9,300 or 60% of the overall cost for people who qualify as young trained farmers, or €6,200 or 40% in all other cases, to fund a 6kWp solar system.
